If you are interested in getting started
in karting, the best way is to watch a race
weekend, You can see first hand how a race
event operates and what the racers must do
to prepare and compete. Saturday is a
practice and tuning day, then we Qualify. On
Sunday racing takes place in the form of a
Pre Final and Final. All of the Westwood
Karting sprint races are held at the
Westwood Kart Track at Mission Raceway Park.
Mission Raceway Park is located
32670 Dyke Rd, Mission, BC
There are several kart shops located in the
Lower Mainland. These are great places to
view different types of equipment and
accessories, and to discuss karting.
Depending on your age and experience you may
have several class options available to you.
The kart shop's have the knowledge and
experience to assist you with all aspects of
the sport. Check out the Kart Shops on our
links page.
The Westwood Karting Association holds its
meetings on the second Tuesday of The
meetings Start at 7:00pm Visitors are
welcome to attend. Membership forms are
available and you can talk to actual karters.
For info on meetings look on our
Meetings Minutes
page.
The karting community is a social group and
racers are usually willing to give you a few
minutes of their time. You will get
straight-forward answers to your questions
and gain a bit of first-hand knowledge from
the racers.
Once you have purchased your own kart the
best thing you can do is to get plenty of
practice/ seat time. You will be faced with
many new challenges not found in other
sports. Become familiar with your new
environment including how your kart handles
under different set-ups and various track
conditions and its capabilities/limitations.
These are the initial steps in gaining
confidence and preparing for your first
race.
