The westwood executive wanted to ensure that this race continued, so in an effort to reduce potential financial burden on the club the race will now be a one day event on Saturday Oct 16th, there will still be plenty of practice time on the saturday.THIS RACE WILL RUN, SO PLEASE COME OUT AND SUPPORT THIS ADDTION TO THE SERIES.

WESTWOOD LIFE MEMBER, FRANK MUSIL INDUCTED AS PIONEER - Posted Oct 6, 2010

On Sunday Oct 17, 2010 Frank Musil will be inducted as a pioneer in Karting by the Greater Vancouver Motorsports Pioneers society. The ceremony will take place at the Scandinavian Community Center at 6540 Thomas St Burnaby. Frank is a long time Karting ethusiast and is often heard saying " If there is something in karting I don't know about... then it hasn't been invented yet." Frank is still an active member of the Karting community in the NW Goldcup and recently acted as the 2009 Race Director for Westwood Karting.

Westwood Karting congratulates Frank on this achievement and encourages everyone to get out to the ceremony On Oct 17 to cheer Frank on for this momentus occasion.

COME OUT AND RACE AT GMR THIS WEEKEND - Posted Sep 29, 2010

Wow, we just had a fabulous weekend racing with all the West Coast Kart Club members who came out in HUGE numbers in support of our invitation to race at our track in Mission. A great time was had by all despite the rain on Sunday. A number of people stayed and enjoyed the BBQ & cake. It was really great to see the support from their members not just in coming to the event but by helping with turn working, cleaning the track and of course helping to get some water off the track after those torrential rains.

Lets show our thanks to WCKC by heading out to Chilliwack this weekend for their club race...lets get out there in numbers !!

Saturday Schedule 9:00am - 5:00pm

Sunday Schedule 9:00am - 5:00 pm

~ Warmups (Practice) - 2 Sessions

~ Heat 1

~ Heat 2

Tag Senior - all IKF/ASN approved Tag engines, weight 365lbs, open tire, non points class

Tag Junior - all IKF/ASN approved Tag engines, weight 320lbs, open tire, non point class

Junior 1 2 stroke - all IKF/ASN/FIK engines, weight 230 lbs gazelle ,FIK(250lbs) engines open tire, non points class Rotax classes as per RMX - Micromax/MiniMax

Senior 4 stroke- as per ASN (Light/Heavy) WCKC

Junior 4 stroke - as per ASN WCKC

** if you race in a WKA class, you must run WKA spec tire. Bridgestone YHC or YKB. **

All IKF/ASN engines are welcome, if you have something else you can run in our WKA Classic or Club class. Run what you brung!!

WESTWOOD HEADS TO SIMA FOR INAUGRAL RACE - Posted Sep 2, 2010

Only a week until our next race. Don't forget to join us in Sumas at Italian Motors new SIMA facility. SIMA is a beatuiful new facility offering a full service parts center, coffee shop and rental Karts. They also have a special suprise for saturday night the ladies "Race to Uptopia" See story for more info and hotel info.

The race weekend will follow our normal schedule. Saturday will be a practice all day starting at 9:00am and finishing at 5:00 pm. Sunday will start a with two warm up sessions follwed by two heats and a final.

Unfortunately, the BCKCA Regional Race #3 will not be happening as planned. However, Westwood would like to extend an invitation to all clubs to come race with us on Sept 25,26. We recognize all sanctioned karting licenses, including BCKCA so simply present your valid license and pay your race entry fees.
Our invitation has been accepted by Westcoast Kart Club see story and many racers are planning to attend, Thank you WCKC members !! So why not come out and join the fun, its been a few years since we all raced together. Come Rain or Shine we will be hosting a BBQ on saturday night for all our guests.

Race #6 July 31/1 CANCELLED - Posted July 26, 2010

Due to unforseen circumstances with the construction of the SIMA Track Race # 6 is Cancelled. This will allow the track the time to be more prepared for hosting a race at the new facility. The executive is looking at alternatives dates for rescheduling.

Gold Cup race #4 hosted by Westwood Karting Association at Mission Raceway Park is approaching quickly, so now is the time to book your hotel room. We have 12 rooms reserved for out of towners, so you better book now. You can phone The Best Western in Mission ( less than 5 minutes away from the track, see our accomodation page for more info), at 604-820-5500. The address is 32281, Lougheed Highway, Mission, B.C.
